EDUCATION · RESEARCH · RECOGNITION

Learning & Research.

I’ve studied in Greenville and at Baylor School, and spent summers exploring environmental science, neuroscience, and computer programming. Here’s what that has looked like so far.

Academic recognitions

2024–PRESENT · BAYLOR SCHOOL

Cartter Scholar & Harris-Stanford Honors Program

I attend Baylor on a competitive $25,000 annual merit scholarship.

Every Cartter Scholar is also a member of the Harris-Stanford Honors Program, which is modeled after college honors programs and built around civic engagement, seminars, travel, and leadership.

Comparing Tillage and Mulching in Respect to Brix Values of Lactuca sativa

Can the way we prepare soil affect the quality of lettuce?

In Baylor’s Research Scholars curriculum, I compared organic mulching with conventional tillage. Over 4 weeks, I collected and recorded measurements from 48 plant samples, using a refractometer to measure Brix values and monitoring plant growth.

The preliminary results didn’t establish a clear relationship between soil preparation and Brix values, or show improved nutritional quality. Working through the limitations was part of the investigation. I presented my findings at Baylor’s Research Symposium and am continuing the work in senior year through Honors Advanced Research: Sustainability.

Learning beyond the school year

SUMMER 2026 · UC BERKELEY

Environmental Science Summer Program

I studied environmental science in UC Berkeley’s summer program, continuing an interest that began in Baylor’s organic garden.

SUMMER 2024 · STANFORD UNIVERSITY

Clinical Neuroscience Immersion Experience (CNI-X)

I explored neuroscience, psychology, and psychiatry. For my capstone, I designed and presented a concept for a helmet that could monitor head impacts, inspired by what I learned about concussions and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. It was a proposed design, not a built or tested device.

SUMMER 2023 · STANFORD UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

iD Tech

I studied Python for machine learning and Java through Minecraft modding at iD Tech, a separate program held on Stanford’s campus.
