Senior year on the chapel lawn. That’s me in the middle.
Hi, I’m Adrian
Perez-Litwin.
I’m fascinated by two things: how we grow the food we eat, and how the human mind works.
I love learning about sustainability, farming, psychology, and the brain.
I like finding out
what’s beneath
the surface.
I was born in New York and moved to Greenville, South Carolina, when I was eight. Now I’m a senior at Baylor School in Chattanooga, where I came on an academic scholarship.
One of the first places I found myself was the organic garden. I’ve helped grow produce for the dining hall and for donations in Chattanooga. It also became the starting point for my research.
What I’m curious aboutMore than one place
feels like home.
I’m Dominican, American, and Japanese, and the youngest of four siblings. My story starts in New York, but it stretches through South Carolina and now Tennessee.
Some of my memories of New York are weekends at my grandmother’s Bronx apartment. My mother grew up in Washington Heights. Her stories taught me how much it matters when neighbors look out for each other.
At Baylor, I’ve found another kind of home among friends from China, Cuba, and Thailand, and a roommate from the Bronx. When my friend Puri couldn’t return to Thailand for Thanksgiving, I brought him home to South Carolina. Welcoming him felt like carrying a little of my family’s hospitality forward.
Curiosity, with commitment.

At home with my family. I’m the youngest of four siblings: two sisters, one brother, and me.
